The Hamburg Süd Group stands for strong brands in the international logistics service sector. Since the end of 2017, Hamburg Süd has been part of Maersk – the world’s market leader in international container liner shipping. The Hamburg Süd liner shipping company has lent its name to the entire group, with operations around the world. Through its Brazilian subsidiary Aliança, Hamburg Süd is a leading shipping line serving the important South American trade lanes. Aliança is the stand-alone market leader for cabotage trade along the Brazilian coast. In the tramp sector, where ship departure times and ports of destination are oriented toward specific customer requirements, the Hamburg Süd Group operates bulk carriers and product tankers under the name of Rudolf A. Oetker (RAO), Furness Withy Chartering, and Aliança Bulk (Aliabulk). The cargo transported consists of dry and liquid bulk goods – for example grain, coal, diesel, or plant-based oils. The Hamburg Süd Group also includes the Hamburg Süd Travel Agency with its various business activities.

We handle your transportation chain – also in the hinterland

This year we have strengthened our intermodal network in the South of Africa: As of now, Hamburg Süd offers its customers cross border transportations to the landlocked countries Botswana and Zimbabwe via truck and train as well as improved real-time tracking. Cities like Johannesburg, Pretoria, Gaborone or Harare can be reached within 1–2 days from the Port of Durban, for example.
